Chère Christine et membres de l'Arpeggiata, J'étais à Paris hier et j'ai découvert une merveille... un peu par hasard, en écoutant votre SACD La Tarantella. Je vais essayer d'être bref, tellement j'aurais de compliments à faire à vous même et à votre ensemble au plan qualitatif...mais plus que cela, votre musique me remplit de bonheur et de joie, de jubilation et de de "swing", de sérénité aussi et finalement d'émotions, de souvenirs (mais est ce le mot?) enfouis au fond de moi et que je ne soupçonnais pas...bref, un moment intense de bonheur absolu, originel et intemporel: "...selbst die Grenzen der Zeit verschwinden..." Dans un monde d'uniformité croissante...on peut encore rêver! Merci et bravo à vous et à votre équipe de nous apporter tout cela (bravo aussi aux techniciens du son pour la transparence absolue de l'enregistrement), et surtout, continuez sur cette voie pour que notre émerveillement ne s'arrête pas... I just wanted to say you (Christina and other members of l'Arpeggiata) that I saw you at a concert in Namur a couple of months ago plaing "Tarantella" and it was a real pleasure (I had been told about you, but it was better than immagined). Last week I had the opportunity to buy the CD and although I miss some of the works I was so impressed (again) that I couldn't stop tears coming out. Dag Christina, Wat was het zondagavond genieten in zaal Roma in Antwerpen!!!! Fantastische muzikanten, fantastische zangers, fantastische dansers en een fantastische dirigente die het concert begon met l'arpeggiata van Kapsberger, toeval ? Ik denk het niet!!! Bonjour, Un grand bravo à tous pour le concert "la Tarentella" au Festival de la Vézère... excellent complément au disque, puisque rien ne vaut, surtout dans ces musiques associées à de vieilles traditions orales et populaires, une découverte plus "vivante" des mélodies, chanteurs et musiciens. Je crois que vous avez fait des émules auprès de personnes qui venaient pour certaines sans trop savoir ce qu'elles venaient écouter... Plus dommage en revanche, selon moi, le dernier disque "All'improvviso", où l'apport du clarinettiste, entre autres choses, ne m'a pas vraiment convaincue. Je trouve ces musiques déjà si actuelles... -est-il vraiment utile d'introduire un musicien jazz pour s'en persuader ? Il suffit de vous voir tous jouer pour comprendre, s'il en était besoin, combien vous n'êtes pas tournés vers le passé! Bravo encore, A.Sophie

Chère Madame Pluhar et collègues musiciens! Je n'ai jamais été du genre "groupie" mais là...je craque complètement! Cela avait commencé avec le Landi, et puis continué avec La Tarentelle et maintenant avec cet All'Improviso, 52 minutes de bonheur pur.. J'ai eu le privilège et la grande joie d'être à Fribourg le 10 juillet pour le concert Landi et de constater que vos compétences musicales égalent votre plaisir de jouer ensemble. L'ami de longue date qui m'accompagnait en est resté muet de bonheur pendant plus de deux heures, lui d'habitude si bavard!! Alors merci et encore merci...Et je me réjouis déjà du prochain concert... I was happy to hear that it will be rebroadcast and after a week recorded the whole show. I REALLY love the music and would like to ask two things: 1. Where can I buy "La Tarantella"? 2. Where can I find other music of the same sort (artist name, website, store)? Dopo tutti i precedendti, che ho apprezzato molto, acquistato il Vostro ultimo CD "All’Improvviso » Ciaccone, Bergamasche e un po’ di Folie..." (che peraltro qui non compare ancora) e sono rimasto molto deluso. Trovo che la presenza e lo stile (jazz!) del clarinetto (Gianluigi Trovesi), qui introdotto nell'organico strumentale, sia del tutto incompatibile con lo stile delle musiche proposte. Un vero peccato.

Liebe Christina, Es hat mich sehr gefreut, am Konzert vom vergangenen Samstag in Fribourg dabei gewesen zu sein. Es war ein eindrückliches Erlebnis. Die Musik, die fast gesprochen gestalteten Lieder durch Marco Beasley und Johannette Zomer passten so gut in den kirchlichen Raum, als wäre diese Musik für dieses Konzert geschrieben worden. Die Interpreten musizierten und gestalteten Musik und Gesang differenziert und liessen das Publikum Musik 'erleben'. Ich schätzte auch die eingebundenen Klänge des Psalteriums. Mit den musikalischen Übergängen von der einen zur anderen Komposition wurde dem Publikum klar zu verstehen gegeben, wann der erste Musikblock beendet ist und wann nun Platz bleibt für Applaus. Diese subtile Führung durch das Konzert hat der Musik eine besondere Wirkung verliehen - besten Dank. Die Musik klingt jedoch noch immer in meinen Ohren und ich denke gerne an den Konzertabend in Fribourg zurück. Eigentlich wollte ich noch eine CD kaufen, aber es war restlos alles weg. Wie ich auf der homepage gesehen habe, spielen Sie in diesem Jahr nur das eine Mal in der Schweiz. Schade! Mit herzlichen Grüssen Thea Fehr

Beste Mevrouw Pluhar, Alfred Deller was dertig jaar geleden de eerste die me met zijn goddelijke stem " oude muziek" leerde kennen . . . Die ervaring was o zo sterk . Nu, met u en L'Arpeggiata is het opnieuw koud krijgen en stil worden bij het horen van al die heerlijke muziek . Nochtans ben ik als zus van René Jacobs en zelf ooit zanger bij het Collegium Vocale echt wel verwend . . . Jullie zijn toch wel een heel nieuwe generatie musici die (nog) veel spontaner met die "oude muziek" omgaan en ze 'echt' in onze moderne tijd plaatst. All'Improviso is ook daarom alweer zo fantastisch ! Wanneer komt de volgende CD en welke muziek zal het dan zijn ? Proficiat ! rieke jacobs

Je vous écris ces quelques mots pour vous dire toute mon admiration au sujet du dernier disque "Al improvviso". C'est superbe, plus que superbe ! Vous avez signé là le plus bel hommage qui soit à l'art musical. Je l'ai écouté rempli de flots d'émotions, d'émerveillement et d'un grand et profond bonheur. Le vrai bonheur qui donne à la vie des dimensions que l'on ne soupçonnait pas.  Vos enregistrements de Landi et Tarentelle m'avaient déjà comblés, mais ici vous atteignez des sommets impressionnants. Je suis depuis longtemps fasciné  par les chaconnes, passacailles, etc... , par l'impression de liberté qui en émane et je vous avoue qu'ici cette fascination a été portée à un  degré que je n'aurais jamais pu imaginer. Je vous remercie de cela avec beaucoup d'émotion , je ne trouve pas d'autre mots pour le dire (mon vocabulaire me semble si pauvre).  "....selbst die Grenzen der Zeit verschwinden...."  C'est vraiment l'impression que l'on a en écoutant votre disque. Il est impressionnant et émouvant de réaliser qu'un matériau musical  se retrouve ainsi magnifié, tant dans son fond que dans sa forme, quatre ou cinq siècles après avoir été imaginé. Merci, merci mille fois de m'avoir permis de vivre cette expérience. "Al improvviso" est devenu un de mes trésors et je n'ai vraiment pas l'intention de me priver de l'écouter et de le réécouter. I had not heard much early music before and the marvellous interpretations which you presented that evening have introduced me to a new world of music. Congratulations to the beautiful dancer who helped to bring the music alive and to Marco and all the rest of you, it was superb. I listened to the BBC broadcast of the concert and enjoyed it all again. I tracked down a CD and it arrived in Belfast this morning and now I can listen to the music of Stefano Landi here at home. And I think I have not experienced such an emotion for a long time in a concert. Ttogether with Le Poëme Harmonique and some other ensembles (not so many), your love, enthousiasm for what you are producing together is so perceivable that it is communicated to us. I have been listening to early music since my early teens (nearly 30 years!) and playing early music since university, and also have a great interest in traditional music, so your immaculate and innovative approach delights me: and Marco Beasley's voice is extraordinary. I'm delighted to see he will be on the next CD as well. I am only disappointed that you are not bringing the Tarantella show to Britain this year: any chance in 2005? Happy New Year! I have all your CDs on Alpha label (and the older Piccinini disc on L'empreinte digitale) and I want you to know what great pleasure I derive from your superb recordings. I have recently bought several SACD titles on Alia Vox, Hyperion and several other early music labels and I must tell you how truly wonderful they sound. I would quickly buy all your CDs again if I could get SACD versions of them. Are any of your discs likely to be recorded or remastered for SACD soon? I do hope you will ask your labels to do so. Even top class standard CD recordings like Alpha's benefit hugely from SACD quality. Bellissime le interpretazioni strumentali, bellissime le voci, mi riferisco al cd "La Tarantella", come uomo del sud, che ha vissuto varie volte la magica atmosfera della "notte della taranta" che si tiene nel Salento ogni anno, quest'anno a Melpignano, sono orgoglioso che la nostra musica è arrivata al centro dell'europa e questo grazie a voi. L'unica cosa che ho notato la poca presenza delle "Tammorre".. che è uno strumento indispenzabile per la pizzica.. Comunque Grazie per quello che avete fatto. -------- Rosario

Dear Sir, thank you for your mail and the interest in the technical side of our recordings. All CD'S of Arpeggiata are recorded with two central microphones only, and the balance between instruments is made by our wonderful recording master Hueges Descheaux. This is our philosophie about recording, because it preserves at most a "live" -music making, quite different then studio recordings with multi-channel and re-recording possibilities. Dear Christina, musicians and Alpha crew I have a very comfortable access to the best CD records, due to "Musica Antiqua" shop in Krakow, Poland. They knows my taste and demands, so advise to buy " La Tarantella" was perfect. I am still under deep impression about music, lyrics, performance. Simply congratulations! I have only one comment about recording. Due to my passion of manufacturing of audio equipment ( www.ancient.com.pl) I have a very good hi-fi system. Some background instruments was recorded out of phase. Was it an recording error, or intention of recording engineer ? This is a question for technicians, unfortunatelly alpha-prod web-page is not ready. I would like to present your record at all possible exhibitions and presentations. 	Dear Christina Your two recordings are so beautiful, direct and  immediate, they quite take my breath away.  Are you running any workshops at all on the Tarantella music?  Is it possible to find any of these songs written down?
